Hello!  I'm Grace (or Grac), and this is my bird website!  I'm an avid (but casual) birder, and sometimes I take pictures of birds.  This website is primarily a way for friends and family to see my bird pictures.  Above, you can see me holding a warbler at a bird-banding event I attended!  I believe it's a Nashville warbler, although I'm not 100% sure.

Note: You may be wondering what the heck "avid (but casual)" means.  It means I'm very excited about birds, try to go birding (which in my case usually means hiking-with-binoculars) locally as much as I can, and when I travel I bring my binoculars, but I haven't ever made travel plans with the explicit purpose of looking for birds.

A little more about me:

• I'm a grad student studying English Literature.  In undergrad I studied linguistics.  Apparently it's actually pretty common for linguists to also be enthusiastic about birds.
• I'm originally from California, but I went to college in Wisconsin and I'm currently living in Montana.
• I've dabbled (or more) in a variety of instruments, including voice, piano, clarinet, guitar, ukulele, pipe organ, didjeridu, and banjo.
• I'm in at least one band!  Hellpeople has released eight albums so far, and our specialty is experimental meme music (translation: we sound bad on purpose, and we have a grand time).  Check us out on Bandcamp!
• I put two spaces after end punctuation.
• I have 0 qualifications when it comes to birds, photography, or website-building.  I'm doing this for fun!

• If there's a place on this site where there's only one space between end punctuation and the next sentence, it's because Weebly is forcing that formatting on me regardless of what I type and I can't change it.
• I just started setting the site up, so there's a backlog of bird photos and information I haven't uploaded.  If you see something that seems unfinished, it probably is!  For example, you may only see four or five birds on this website.  I've seen more birds than that.
• All photos are taken by me unless otherwise specified.  If I upload someone else's work I'll credit them accordingly.
• You'll also find some non-bird things and non-photo things here!  These, like everything, are just for fun.
